Last weekend we visited the largest open pit mine in the world: Kennecott Copper Mine. It was pretty cool. I was mainly impressed with the massive size of the dump trucks. Here is a picture of an actual tire.
This picture gives you an idea of the size of equipment they use. Notice how small the person is next to the truck:
